I will be there displaying my work and booking winter photo sessions with *specials* for the show.

Please stop by and say hello!

I think this officially marks the end of the fall color here.  Autumn in Maryland sure seemed to go fast this year, didn’t it?

I met a family earlier this week after getting fogged out last week!  We didn’t have the best of luck again with the weather as it drizzled on and off throughout our session together.  The children (and the parents) were amazingly good sports though and we toughed it out.  In fact, the two oldest were begging to stay when it was time to call it a wrap!

I know Mom is worried considering the less than ideal weather conditions, so I wanted to be sure to give her a little peek to reassure her that we did in fact manage to capture some adorable shots of her kids.  If they weren’t such wonderful kids, well, then it could have been a challenge.  But they were fantastic!

Here’s a sneak peek for a US Navy family.  Dad is stationed here at the US Naval Academy and since Mom and Dad met and got engaged on the yard, we decided it would be the perfect spot for a family photo session in Annapolis.

After one rain out, we did persevere and braved the cloudy skies that threatened to rain us out once again.  Lucky for us, it was mild in temperature and the rain drops held off long enough for us to enjoy our morning together…

Thank you for sharing your family with me!

It’s always a happy day when I get to see kids as they grow.  I met this little guy when he was still in mama’s belly.  She was absolutely stunning, just STUNNING, pregnant and indulged my vision to do her maternity session on the beach overlooking the Chesapeake Bay.

Then of course, I got to meet the little guy after he made his entrance to the world.  You can see that blog post here.   But just in case, here’s one shot from his newborn session. See if you think he still looks similar on his one year birthday!

And here he was on his actual one year birthday!

He does look similar, doesn’t he?  Totally cute!

Here are his big brothers…

Such gorgeous boys, each one of them.  And I have to say they are also very sweet guys!  I do love the bond brothers share.  It’s wonderful!

Thanks for having me back in your lives!

Mary Hanson, of Mary Hanson Photography, owns and maintains a web blog called Blogs of Photogs which his aimed at photographers seeking inspiration from their peers.  Barefoot Photography was just featured this week and I wanted to thank Mary for her kind words.  An excerpt:

“I can’t decide which is my favorite age group from her work–her newborn work is beautiful, her family shots have such a warm, cozy connection too, but I guess probably her kids shots-in the 2-5 age range are my favorite. She seems to excel at capturing the wonder and excitement of that age range especially well.”

Thanks Mary!  Way to make a girl blush!

She also reviewed my husband’s blog.  And I’ll just add a DISCLAIMER:  His stories are embellished (a bit) and sarcastic (very much so) to add comedic value.  Don’t bother reading if you don’t have a sense of humor and an innate understanding of sarcasm.  My favorites from him are Pay Back Tour, Green Peace is Looking for my Kid, and Some Assembly Required.  Way more than you probably want to read about my family.  Life is never dull around here with my three men!

What a darling little baby girl I met recently.  She had a rough start with a stay in the NICU, but you’d never know it from looking at her now.  Not only that, but she had such a sweet disposition and mom tells me she slept through the night after our session!

Here are a few peeks from our newborn session in Eastport…

I love these little details…

So tiny in Dad’s hands… she really didn’t complain even though she insisted on staying awake.

Or, little red pedal car.   Oh how I always wanted one of these pedal cars, or rather, I always wanted one for my boys who are now way too big to have a metal pedal car.  They are just the COOLEST and add a total cutie pie little boy… and who can resist?  I think he looks pretty stylin’ in his wheels.  Check out the adorable little monkey shoes peeking out!

Not only does he drive already, but he’s also practicing to be a dancer. I am seriously impressed by his ability to stand on his tippy toes!

He has some of the prettiest blue eyes I have ever seen- he really could be the next Gerber baby.

But he doesn’t need to decide right now.   He can be a race car driver, a dancer, or a model, but for now he’s just a sweet little guy with two parents who love him.  What more could you ask for?

I recently opened up a day of mini sessions for returning clients to capture a few updated images for use for holiday cards, gifts or “just because”.  I was lucky to get see quite a few familiar faces on that chilly fall morning.  Lucky for them, the sessions were just 20 minutes long.  Me?  I had many layers of warm clothing and my down jacket- but I’m a wimp when it comes to the cold.  And I’m not kidding.  7 years of living in San Diego and I swear my blood is permanently thin.

But, we managed to all still have a good time, despite the brisk temperatures!

Here is a sampling from each family as I work toward getting all their galleries ready by the week’s end-

You know it’s going to be a GREAT session!

This little guy was so full of joy and life and just positive, happy energy!  When mom asked toward the end of the session if I thought there would be any good ones, I just had to chuckle.  How could there not be?  He was an absolute joy to  photograph!

He was so thrilled when we ran into a four-legged friend…

And his mom did a fantastic job coordinating the family’s clothing for their photo session.  Look at how well coordinated they are without “matching”.

They look like they belong in an ad, don’t they?  Beautiful!

Of course, the little guy did have to be convinced to join Mom and Dad- he was pretty busy playing:

But, when they did finally get a hold of him.. magical!

Thanks for spending the morning with me- it was a really great time!
