Here’s another fella who appeared in the Big Book of Babies.  He was about a year old when we met and incidentally his parents loved this image as much as the publishers apparently did!  He’s holding a little turtle in front of a boat planter- quite appropriate for Eastport- dontcha think?

And here he was in March…  Still with those big baby blues

What is your favorite children’s boutique? The Little Lamb Shop

The biggest mess my child ever made was… painting his face with magic marker.

Photographs are important to me because… they remind me of the fun memories our family has had!

Where do you go when you want to be pampered? David Alexander

One thing I hope to always remember is… making pancakes on Saturday mornings with my two year old.

What is your favorite kid-friendly restaurant? The Boatyard in Eastport, Maryland.

What is your favorite family tradition? Picking pumpkins at the pumpkin patch for Halloween.

An awesome, child-friendly place that others may not have heard of is… Davis’ Pub in Eastport- smoke free now!

A good friend of mine, Marianne Drenthe of the fabulous Marmalade Photography, shared this very cool tool with me. It generates what it calls “word clouds” from your source text. You can either enter a bunch of words yourself or it will pull from a source, in this case I pulled from my blog with RSS feed. Then you can play with different fonts, colors, and layouts if you like (and have spare time).

It gives more prominence to words that are repeated most frequently. So, I suppose you can figure out if you say the same thing over, and over, and over… as I apparently do with the word “session”. Oh how I must love that word.

Here’s the link to Wordle if you’d like to try it yourself

I had the pleasure of meeting these three little guys recently. Their bond was quite apparent- in fact getting shots of each of them individually proved to be a bigger challenge than a group shot (the opposite is usually true). They really wanted to be near one another, which was so sweet. But we still got a little of each. I think you’ll agree- they are some cuties!

Boys, I hope that your kids’ night out was fun and that your dog is feeling better!!!

Here is another star from the Big Book of Babies.  I photographed her along with her family when she was only toddling.

Now she’s a big girl.  Completely adorable.  She did come in for my studio mini sessions in Annapolis, but then we also got together this summer to do a full session along with her brother.  Here she is in studio:

Doesn’t she have the prettiest big brown eyes?

So, like I said, we also did a full outdoor session this summer and I got to see how her brother has grown.

And I of course have to show at least ONE in color!  Aren’t they the sweetest?

Here are the answers to my Q&A:

What is your favorite weekend activity to do with the family? Alternatively, where do you like to take the kids to burn (their) energy? Visiting friends and family

The most requested toy in our house right now is… her baby doll named “Ga-Ga”.

One thing I hope to never forget… the giggles!

If there were 25 hours in the day, I would spend the extra hour… reading books

Which do you prefer, black and white or color (photographs of course!)? black and white

The most important thing a parent can do for a child is…give them the confidence to try new things.

How do you pass the time on long trips? watching and listening to funny movies

What I am looking forward to most in 2008 is… moving into our new house

Do you have a local business or charity you’d like to share? We support the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation

I got a call this past spring from a client who I’d previously photographed letting me know that they were returning to town (family lives in Eastport) and would be visiting from Florida in June. So, we set up our session as their newest son was about the same age as their first when we did his portraits!

Of course, even better, as the big guy was also featured in The Big Book of Babies from our first session together.

So this was exciting on many levels, not only getting to see how their first son had grown, but also meeting the newest member of their family.

So, here’s the image featured in the book, from our first session together

And here he is now:

But, in fairness, our focus for the session was really on his younger brother. In their words, he was “the star” for the day! And he deserved that attention as well. He’s just as adorable as his big brother and did amazingly well considering they’d had such a busy travel day the day before!

I was talking with a client whose child appeared in the Big Book of Babies, after we did her Then and Now session (yet to be featured, but coming soon- I promise!). She inquired about the possibility of getting a few of her friends/family together and doing a series of sessions, perhaps even down in St. Mary’s County where she lives. Little did she know, it was something I’d been contemplating for clients who had already used me for a full session and already knew what I was all about. So we put this to a trial and she gathered 3 other families to photograph on the same day.

I can honestly tell you that it was SO much fun and went so smoothly. I am going to guess that in part it was the great families that she managed to gather, but I really enjoyed our quick 20 minute sessions and fell in LOVE with so many of the images captured that day in downtown Annapolis. Of course, we kept focused on specific goals for our time together, but we managed to accomplish a lot and I couldn’t be happier with the results.

First up, the girls. I am telling you, they know how to strike a pose and have been faithfully watching America’s Next Top Model, no doubt. I thought they were fantastic, even if they were hamming it up a bit!

Oh here’s the comedian. Not that he cracked jokes or anything, but he is SO expressive and I will not be surprised to find him on stage doing his stand up routine, years down the road.

I could seriously make this blog post a page long and wish I had room to show you each and every picture from that day (I love them that much), but had to limit it to 3 per family in the interest of space! I’ll feature the host family separately when I do her “then and now” post!
