I wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a wonderful, healthy, and safe holiday season!  As we take time off to enjoy our families, I hope we will all remember that it’s the memories we create that matter the most!

I will be out of the office, creating new memories with my wonderful children and fantastic husband, from now through January 5.  I’ll be back, ready to help capture your family’s memories in the new year.

I may or may not add a blog post here or there, but all calls and emails will be on hold until after the holidays. I look forward to talking with you then!

I met up with this family over Thanksgiving weekend when their oldest daughter was home from college for the holidays.  They truly were a lovely family and I enjoyed meeting all of them and witnessing their connection to each other.  I always feel so privileged when I get to be a part of that for an afternoon, and capture a family’s connection and love for each other in still pictures.

Here are a few from that afternoon,

No, I don’t plan to take on wedding photography!

But my friend and fellow local photographer, Stacy Richardson, is having a contest to give away one wedding in 2009! I’ve known Stacy for about two years now and think she’s just as sweet as she is a great photographer.  Don’t delay if you are getting married or know someone getting married within 100 miles of Annapolis- contest ends December 18!

The artisan boutique is one of the fundraisers for the ALS Association’s DC/MD/VA Chapter to help raise money toward their mission of leading “the fight to cure and treat ALS through global, cutting edge research.  As a hospice social worker, I saw first hand how cruel this disease is.  ALS is a devastating disease which causes progressive muscle weakness, paralysis and eventually death.  To read more about the chapter and their mission, please visit their website.

The quality of the artists at this event is top-notch and the variety is wonderful.  Please come by if you can!

I think this officially marks the end of the fall color here.  Autumn in Maryland sure seemed to go fast this year, didn’t it?

I met a family earlier this week after getting fogged out last week!  We didn’t have the best of luck again with the weather as it drizzled on and off throughout our session together.  The children (and the parents) were amazingly good sports though and we toughed it out.  In fact, the two oldest were begging to stay when it was time to call it a wrap!

I know Mom is worried considering the less than ideal weather conditions, so I wanted to be sure to give her a little peek to reassure her that we did in fact manage to capture some adorable shots of her kids.  If they weren’t such wonderful kids, well, then it could have been a challenge.  But they were fantastic!

Here’s a sneak peek for a US Navy family.  Dad is stationed here at the US Naval Academy and since Mom and Dad met and got engaged on the yard, we decided it would be the perfect spot for a family photo session in Annapolis.

After one rain out, we did persevere and braved the cloudy skies that threatened to rain us out once again.  Lucky for us, it was mild in temperature and the rain drops held off long enough for us to enjoy our morning together…

It’s always a happy day when I get to see kids as they grow.  I met this little guy when he was still in mama’s belly.  She was absolutely stunning, just STUNNING, pregnant and indulged my vision to do her maternity session on the beach overlooking the Chesapeake Bay.

Then of course, I got to meet the little guy after he made his entrance to the world.  You can see that blog post here.   But just in case, here’s one shot from his newborn session. See if you think he still looks similar on his one year birthday!

Such gorgeous boys, each one of them.  And I have to say they are also very sweet guys!  I do love the bond brothers share.  It’s wonderful!

She seems to excel at capturing the wonder and excitement of that age range especially well.”

She also reviewed my husband’s blog.  And I’ll just add a DISCLAIMER:  His stories are embellished (a bit) and sarcastic (very much so) to add comedic value.  Don’t bother reading if you don’t have a sense of humor and an innate understanding of sarcasm.  My favorites from him are Pay Back Tour, Green Peace is Looking for my Kid, and Some Assembly Required.  Way more than you probably want to read about my family.  Life is never dull around here with my three men!

What a darling little baby girl I met recently.  She had a rough start with a stay in the NICU, but you’d never know it from looking at her now.  Not only that, but she had such a sweet disposition and mom tells me she slept through the night after our session!
