Family time (maryland portrait session)

October 25th, 2012

It’s fun to watch the personalities develop and see what changes and what remains the same. Here they are back in August of 2007

We did this session over the summer and in honor of this beautiful fall day (that really feels more like spring) I thought I’d take a moment to share a few of my favorites.

I love that we got the family dog involved in a few of the shots and we did the rest at Sandy Point State Park which is a lovely location for evening sessions.

Thanks for letting me back into your lives!

On Saturday October 13, I will be offering a limited number of holiday mini sessions in downtown Annapolis. Both morning and afternoon appointments are available.

Sessions include:
-20 minutes to capture the individual child, siblings or a few family shots
-8-12 images in a private online gallery (5 day ordering period)

Mini sessions offer the perfect opportunity to capture a few great shots- whether you would simply like to document a new milestone, capture a shot for use in your holiday cards, or wrap up those holiday gifts quickly and easily! Due to the shortened nature of these sessions, we will focus on your specific priority – whether that be sibling shots, family shots, individuals of one or two children, etc. If we have time after we have captured that priority shot, we may be able to capture others but communication and prioritizing is key as we simply cannot “do it all” in these abbreviated sessions.

Mini sessions will be priced at $150 for the session with a $350 print/order commitment. As always, there will be special “mini” print collections as well as offering digital files for purchase.

To schedule, call 410-919-3954 or send an email to connie@barefoot-photo.com

It seems summer has gone by way too fast! But it’s not over yet. If you are still looking to have your children photographed this summer or the whole family, give me a shout.

Summer projects- 101 days of summer

Two years ago, frustrated by my own lack of consistency in taking pictures of my own family, I vowed to take one photo a day for the entire summer. I’m not going to lie and say it was easy. There were days when I realized long after everyone else had gone to bed that I’d yet to take a picture. The only upside to that was that there are a few self portraits in the group, since I tend to be the first person missing from the photographic history of our family’s life. Somehow, I managed to pull it off. I took a picture every day from memorial day through labor day. An even bigger miracle happened when I actually buckled down and designed a book of the summer’s photographs to give as Christmas gifts.

I did the same last year, and a tradition was born. I can’t say I was quite as on top of sifting through and picking a favorite from each day, but they are all done now. And I’m hoping to “catch up” and get the book done from last summer- hopefully as I work on the one this year!

I’m not sure if I miscounted the past years, as I swore it was 100 days of summer. I am counting 101 this year. I kicked off the season last weekend by breaking the camera out of my work bag and turning it on my family. It wasn’t quite the usual water-filled start to summer as I was feeling under the weather and mostly trying to lay low. But we’ll have plenty of time for fun.

Here are a few from last weekend:

While I am at it, I may as well share a few favorites from the summer of 2011:

This is time of year when I start hearing from adult siblings who are interested in doing a session with their children as well as their nieces and nephews. Whether for a birthday gift for grandma or a portrait of a rare family reunion, cousins sessions and extended family sessions can really be a lot of fun. Often, there is a narrow window of time when family can get together, so it is important to get in touch as soon as possible if you are interested in doing this sort of session.

Here are a few favorites from last year:

The newest Steelers fan in Baltimore Ravens country (newborn photographer)

March 20th, 2012

I recently had the pleasure to photograph the newest member of this sweet family. I have photographed his big sister a couple of times and we had a nice time playing “kitchen” while the baby took feeding breaks. Dad and his whole family are big Pittsburgh Steelers fans so they brought out the gear to seal the deal and ensure that this little guy knows from the start which team he’ll be rooting for! He was truly a joy and a great little newborn model for me. It helps that he was just a week old and still very sleepy! I always try to photograph my newborns in the first two weeks so they are more sleepy and still like curling up for a snooze…

Why should a wind chill slow us down? Child Portraits

March 2nd, 2012

I have been photographing both of these beautiful girls since each was just days old. I have been photographing both of these beautiful girls since each was just days old. At least once a year, I have either photographed them in Annapolis, San Diego (Coronado), or this year in Norfolk! I just traveled down to Virginia a couple of weeks ago to do their yearly photo session. It’s always fun to get to start a session out at home so we can get some pictures of the kids in their own environment. To say mom loves Dave Matthews Band would be an understatement. I love how she used her colorful posters to decorate the girls’ room.

It was a nippy 27 degrees in Norfolk so we mixed a bit of running outside for some family shots with some natural light and studio work inside their home. But despite the cold, we sure had some fun…

CLICK HERE for a peek at their session last year. Haven’t they grown up a lot?

Happy New Year everyone!

As I refresh to gear up for 2012, I thought I’d start to play a bit of catch up. This past fall was one of my busiest yet and in the process of prioritizing so all of my wonderful clients could get their prints as quickly as possible, my blog fell to the wayside. I plan to revisit some of my fall sessions through the winter when I welcome a little slower pace.
I loved this session so thought it would be perfect to kick off the new year. We had a chilly and windy day, but you’d never know it.

One quick  business note before I share the images: I am out of the office until Wednesday January 18 to attend a photography convention. I will get back to anyone who is looking for me upon my return!
