Yes, it’s that time of year, when we all feel a little harried and crazier than usual.  For portrait photographers, this time of year is especially hectic as we try our best to get everything done and back in time to deliver before the holidays.

For me, personally, this is the crazy week when I hope to get many packages out the door, finish getting all the last minute 2009 orders processed, the last few sessions promised for 2009 proofed, and maybe even start thinking about MY OWN holiday cards?  If I can accomplish all that, I might even have a day or two to do my own Christmas shopping before the boys get out on winter break.  Crazy, huh?!

Looking for the new faces of Baby Madison!

Barefoot Photography and Baby Madison are joining forces to find some fresh faces!

If you haven’t stopped by the new, hip children’s boutique at 158 Main Street in Annapolis, you really must! They offer an exciting alternative to children’s clothing, featuring eco-friendly, celebrity driven clothing lines with sizes ranging from infant to 7 years.

We will be having a one-day photo shoot with photography by Connie Groah of Barefoot Photography. Connie’s work has been featured in The Big Book of Babies as well as on Babycenter. Participants will be styled by Catharine Incaprera, owner of Baby Madison and Hollywood dresser/stylist for feature films. She has dressed and styled stars including Reese Witherspoon, Jack Nicholson, Owen Wilson, Julianne Moore, Kate Hudson, Nicole Kidman, and Colin Farrell to name a few. Selected photos will be used by Baby Madison for their advertising.

What: Mini-photo session (approximately 20 minutes)
When: August- day TBD
Where: Baby Madison, 158 Main Street, Annapolis, Maryland
Who: Boys and girls ages 18 months to 7 years

Just in time for the spring tulips and daffodils, Barefoot Photography is partnering with The Paper Trousseau to present our spring mini-sessions. These are shortened versions of our regular sessions, designed to capture a little slice of life, get new photos in that darling Easter outfit, get an updated shot of your children together or just because they are so stinkin’ cute right now.

Due to the shortened nature of these sessions, we will focus on a particular shot – sibling shots, individuals of one or two children, family shots, etc. If we have time after we have gotten that shot, we will work on others, but communication and prioritizing is key.

Mini sessions are recommended for babies who are able to sit up unassisted (6 months or older).   These sessions are not recommended if you are seeking a variety of poses or multiple backgrounds or outfits. Mini sessions are intended to give a feel for the full Barefoot Photography experience, to capture just a few special shots or for those who have recently had full sessions and just need a little something to tie them over until their next Barefoot session.

- Friday morning April 3- $95
- Saturday morning April 4- $125
- 20 minute session for up to 2 children or one immediate family
- 8-10 images presented in a private online gallery
- Four day online ordering period

These special sessions will be held in Severna Park at The Paper Trousseau, utilizing the gardens across the street. Mini session fees are due in order to reserve your date and time and are non-refundable. Sessions will be booked back to back so it is important to be on time as I will need to start on time for the next family. In the event that you are unable to make your date and time due to illness, you may reschedule for the next mini session date or apply your deposit toward a full session.

Have you always dreamed of having some really cool, really unique, awesome photographs of your best friend?  I’m not talking about your best human friend, but “man’s best friend”, your pooch!

Well, the opportunity will present itself later this spring when Pam Biasotti, San Francisco Bay Area Dog Photographer, will be traveling from California to the East Coast to offer up some special dog photo sessions!  Pam has been a great friend of mine for a number of years and I am so in awe of her dog photography.  She has such a unique eye when it comes to photographing dogs and it surely stems from her deep love of the furry little creatures.  When she said she was making an east coast trip, I told her what a dog-friendly town Annapolis is and that I’d bet there would be people lining up to get her to photograph their wonderful pets.

So, if you’re interested, shoot me at email and let me know so I can convince her to make a stop here in Annapolis!  For now, I only need to know if there is an interest in bringing her here so there’s no harm in shooting me an email- info@barefoot-photo.com.  Don’t worry- I won’t bite!

What a darling little baby girl I met recently.  She had a rough start with a stay in the NICU, but you’d never know it from looking at her now.  Not only that, but she had such a sweet disposition and mom tells me she slept through the night after our session!

A good friend of mine, Marianne Drenthe of the fabulous Marmalade Photography, shared this very cool tool with me. It generates what it calls “word clouds” from your source text. You can either enter a bunch of words yourself or it will pull from a source, in this case I pulled from my blog with RSS feed. Then you can play with different fonts, colors, and layouts if you like (and have spare time).

It gives more prominence to words that are repeated most frequently. So, I suppose you can figure out if you say the same thing over, and over, and over… as I apparently do with the word “session”. Oh how I must love that word.
